Vote For Miles

Miles Davis - On The Corner

I picked this up recently, just a few weeks ago over at Audiopile in Vancouver. I am definitely not a jazz purist and pretty much know squat all about it. But I do know this is album is my favourite Miles record after In A Silent Way. I love the artwork on this record, bright yellow and cartoon-y. The record starts out with "On the Corner" and it keeps pummeling you right to the end.

Like most of his stuff from around this period (late 60s to early 70s), this album really divides people; you either love it or loathe it.

Enjoy some Youtubey goodness

And to piss off some purists, here is a bit of Bill Laswell knob twirling of Miles songs: Panthalasa

Tony went to fight in Belfast / Rudi stayed at home to starve

David Bowie - Stage 1978 (Live, double album)

Not sure where I bought this, had it for years. Funny thing is that the track sequencing is in chronological order of when the songs were originally recorded, not in set list order. Not the best live album but the versions of "Star" and "Heroes" are great, as well as the material from Low and Heroes. Dig the great plastic coat David is wearing in the video.
